What does the landscape outside your office look like? How can it do more to support healthy life on the Seacoast?

From a curbside grass strip to the local public park, we have an opportunity to observe life’s diversity and interact with it to support a sustainable future. This Handprint Party will show you how to re-look at the land that we are in contact with on a daily basis, through eyes and with hands that will take it into a healthy future.

Choose a piece of land that you have in mind — backyard, office park, or schoolyard — and with a partner, we’ll apply an observation lens to points such as fertilizer/pesticide; native/invasive; habitat for birds, insects and other animals; water usage; connections to neighboring properties and people; and uses from human impact to wild state. What’s revealed will inspire new directions that will delight us and the land that we’re living on.

Handprint parties are hosted by the Seacoast Sustainability Alliance (Seacoast Local is a leading member)  in partnership with the Portsmouth Public Library. They invite us to increase our activities on behalf of the earth! Together, we will examine how to reduce our footprint and increase our handprint to make a positive impact on the  environment. At each party, you will learn new information, make new connections, and walk away with specific actions to take in your own life.
